The Riddler, voiced by Conan O'Brien, is a prominent villain in The Lego Batman Movie. He first appeared as Edward Nygma in Detective Comics #140 in October 1948.
In the Lego version, the Riddler maintains his signature appearance: a green suit adorned with question marks. He is portrayed as one of the many inmates residing in Arkham Asylum, serving as one of the foes released upon Gotham City as part of the Joker's master plan. His motives are primarily based on his desire to prove his intellectual superiority.
Consistent with his name, the Riddler speaks almost entirely in riddles. He uses this speech pattern when challenging Batman and the police. This adds a comedic layer to the character in the film.
