Super Saiyan God is a powerful transformation achievable by Saiyans in the Dragon Ball franchise. First appearing in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, it represents a legendary form previously only known through Saiyan folklore.
The transformation is attained through a ritual involving six righteous Saiyans transferring their pure-hearted energy into one. Goku was the first Saiyan in the series to achieve this form, aided by Gohan, Goten, Vegeta, Trunks, and Pan (while still in Videl's womb).
Super Saiyan God grants the user a significant power boost, characterized by a red, fiery aura, slimmer build, and a calmer, more controlled demeanor. The user's ki becomes divine, making it undetectable to those without god-like sensing abilities. God ki allows the user to survive in any environment, for instance, the vacuum of space.
The form grants enhanced speed, strength, and durability. While initially having a limited duration, Goku eventually learns to retain the form's power within his base state and later combines it with Super Saiyan to create Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (Super Saiyan Blue).
