Cat, portrayed by Danny John-Jules, is a central character in the science fiction comedy television series Red Dwarf. He first appears in the series' inaugural episode, "The End," broadcast in 1988.

Cat is a descendant of Frankenstein, Lister's cat, who was pregnant when the ship suffered its radiation leak. Over millions of years, Cat's descendants evolved into a humanoid species fixated on fashion, grooming, and all things aesthetically pleasing.

Initially lacking in intelligence and solely driven by self-interest, Cat gradually develops a sense of loyalty and camaraderie with the other crew members. His vanity and obsession with style provide a constant source of comedic relief, contrasting sharply with the pragmatism of Lister, Rimmer, and Kryten.

Cat's unique perspective and alien mindset often offer unexpected solutions to problems, even if accidental. He is known for his improvisational dance moves, his flamboyant wardrobe, and his utter disdain for anything considered unattractive.
