Nighthawk is a Marvel Comics character, debuting in The Avengers #69 (October 1969). There have been several characters who have taken on the name of Nighthawk. The best known is Kyle Richmond.
Kyle Richmond was originally a wealthy socialite who gained superhuman abilities through alchemical means. These abilities included enhanced strength, speed, and flight, mimicking the powers of nocturnal birds. Richmond initially used these powers for selfish gain, forming the Squadron Sinister, a group intended to oppose the Avengers.
However, Richmond eventually has a change of heart, reformed, and joined the Avengers. He later co-founded the Defenders. The character has undergone numerous revisions and interpretations over the years, sometimes portrayed as a hero, other times as an anti-hero, and even as a villain.
