Krall is the main antagonist in the 2016 film Star Trek Beyond. He is a formidable warrior and the former Starfleet Captain Balthazar Edison.
Before his transformation, Edison was a decorated military veteran deeply committed to the ideals of the United Federation of Planets. However, after being stranded on the planet Altamid for decades, his disillusionment with the Federation's peace-seeking ways led him to embrace a xenophobic philosophy.
Using ancient alien technology and bio-engineering, Edison transformed himself into Krall, a powerful and ruthless being. He sought revenge against the Federation, believing their weakness and complacency had left him behind.
