Slade Wilson, also known as Deathstroke, is a prominent anti-hero/villain in the DC Comics universe. Created by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez, he first appeared in The New Teen Titans #2 in 1980.
Wilson is a highly skilled mercenary and assassin enhanced by a secret military experiment. This experiment granted him superhuman strength, speed, agility, stamina, and reflexes, as well as accelerated healing. His intellect was also significantly boosted, making him a tactical genius.
Originally a soldier in the U.S. Army, Wilson volunteered for a medical experiment designed to create super-soldiers. The experiment proved successful, but Wilson was discharged when it was discovered that he was using his abilities for personal gain. He then became Deathstroke, a costumed mercenary.
Deathstroke is often portrayed as an adversary to the Teen Titans, particularly Dick Grayson (Nightwing), and has also clashed with Batman and other DC heroes. Despite his villainous tendencies, Deathstroke sometimes operates in a morally grey area, occasionally even acting as an anti-hero with his own twisted sense of justice.
